About Us

Kinkora Activity Camp (KAC) became a registered Canadian Charity in 2019. Building on the nearly hundred-year legacy of the Camp Kinkora site in the Quebec Laurentians, KAC was established with a mandate of opening up the facilities to a broader range of community organizations and ensuring a focused approach to managing and developing new opportunities for Camp Kinkora.

KAC is responsible for:

  • Administration and maintenance of the Kinkora site year-round;
  • Recruitment and management of Camp Kinkora and Kinkora House core summer staff; and
  • Business development and strategic initiatives to enhance the facilities and create new opportunities to broaden the Kinkora community.

KAC makes it possible for members of our community to experience an outdoor vacation or retreat that would not otherwise be possible. Our aim is to continue to enhance that experience and expand our reach to new community partners.

The Kinkora Difference

What sets Kinkora apart from traditional summer camps and rental sites is the opportunity our campers have to interact with a diverse group of people with differing backgrounds and needs. Often more than one group will share the site meaning mealtimes are communal, and activities like music time in the chapel are open to all.

Over the eight weeks of our summer session in 2024, Kinkora hosted – youth camps, low-income families (many living below the poverty line), adults with intellectual disabilities, groups supporting people with cognitive limitations and mental health issues, neurodivergent campers, and groups supporting at-risk youth, among others.

Our hope is that our campers carry the lessons learned and memories made through these diverse interactions into their day-to-day lives.

KAC as a Charity

We derive our minimum operating costs from site rental fees and provincial government investment programs, and we rely on the generosity of our community to help us improve our services, and to keep fees as low as possible for our non-profit and community groups.

As part of our business model, we rent the facilities at KAC almost year-round, including private rental for family events and corporate retreats. Profits from our site rental are channelled directly back into the maintenance and improvement of the site and towards new initiatives to grow our community reach.

That means whenever a business, community group, or private individual chooses Kinkora for their event or retreat, the proceeds go to ensure that Kinkora continues to be accessible to the communities who need it the most.

We also engage in fundraising activities throughout the year to support specific projects and programs.
